Discover the Shropshire Hills by foot

If you’re craving a breath of fresh air, stunning landscapes, and a touch of history, walking in the Shropshire Hills is an absolute treat. This charming area of England offers everything from rolling hills and ancient forts to tranquil woodlands and picturesque towns. Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or just looking for a peaceful stroll, there’s something for everyone.

Top walking spots to explore

One of my favourite local places to recommend is Bury Ditches, a fascinating British Iron Age hill fort dating back to 500 BC. The walk from Shropshire Luxury Glamping climb might be a bit steep, but it is well worth the effort when you are rewarded with breathtaking views that stretch across the hills.

If you’re staying at the pods for a few days, why not tackle parts of the Shropshire Way. The 200-mile walking route is accessible from a number of points nearby. Pick and choose whether you have a picnic en route and or stop at a historic market town for a hearty lunch.

The Long Mynd is a must see. The views of this heathland plateau can be seen far and wide, and when you reach the top you’ll get to enjoy some of the best panoramic views in the area. You’ll see wild ponies, wildlife and fauna a plenty. From Shropshire Luxury Glamping you could choose to drive over the Longmynd from Asterton to Church Stretton and then head to Carding Mill Valley. Run by the National Trust, it’s a fantastic base for exploring, and on a hot day, you might even fancy a refreshing dip in the reservoir.

If you’re drawn to something a little wilder, the Stiperstones rugged rocky ridge is the place to go. There are plenty of walks to choose from here, and the nearby Bog Visitor Centre is perfect for picking up maps and getting local tips. Plus, there’s a café for those moments when you just need to sit down and recharge (do check seasonal opening times).

Walking in the Shropshire Hills is more than just exercise; it’s a way to connect with nature, history, and take a well-deserved moment to yourself. So, what are you waiting for? Start planning your next adventure at Shropshire Luxury Glamping and discover the magic for yourself!
