Walking in Shropshire

Walk the Shropshire Hills
Rolling hills, woodland escapes, castle views, river walks and historic towns. Walking in Shropshire offers it all. A few of my favourites include:
Bury Ditches – a British Iron Age hill fort dating from 500BC. Choose from a number of walks that pass through the fort – it may be an uphill climb, but you’ll be rewarded with beautiful views.
The Shropshire Way – pick and choose which part of this 200-mile walking route you’d like to enjoy. The inspiring landscape passes through rolling hills and historic market towns – take a picnic or ask for recommendations for a delicious pub lunch. Find out more.
The Long Mynd – This long heathland plateau holds some of the best views in the area. Drive up the ridge to enjoy a number of walks. Or visit Carding Mill Valley, which is run by the National Trust, and is a great base to start your walk – you could even have a dip in the reservoir on a hot (or cold!) day.
Stiperstones – This rugged rocky ridge has plenty of walks to choose from. Go to The Bog Visitor Centre for information boards and route maps. You can also enjoy refreshments at the café (open seasonally).
Walking festivals
We are lucky enough to be based in an area that hosts a number of walking festivals and events, including:
-
Bishop’s Castle walking festival - 13-16 May 2027
-
Shropshire Way 80k – choose from 10km to 80km – the choice is yours
-
Long Mynd hike – 50miles in 24hours
